TPS Belief Statements

Revised and Adopted on 2-22-2012

  1. We believe all stakeholders are entitled to respect and we will value and appreciate individual cultural differences and talents. We believe students should come first and that we are responsible for providing a foundation for lifelong learning because we also believe that all children can learn with appropriate instruction and timely interventions.
  2. We believe words have power and we must be careful how we use them, knowing that fair is not always equal and believe we should model appropriate behaviors.
  3. We believe that all parents send their children to school to acquire successful lifelong learning skills; through continued partnerships with parents we enhance a child’s potential for gaining these skills.
  4. We believe all children and adults should have opportunities for success in a safe environment where they are comfortable taking responsible risks with their learning and teaching.
  5. We believe that we have a moral and ethical responsibility to do what is best for kids knowing that true education includes attention to the social, physical, and emotional domains.
  6. We believe that assessment practices should mirror instructional practices and that it is our responsibility to provide opportunities that equip students with the skills to be globally competitive, to become leaders and problem solvers; and to be prepared for 21st Century.
  7. We believe that all school employees should be flexible, open minded and approach change with a positive attitude, because collectively we can provide the foundation for fulfillment of a person’s dreams and aspirations.
  8. We believe school is a vital part of the community and the school has the potential to positively impact the greater community in a positive way.
  9. We believe all children have the right to learn in an environment free from disruptions.  All stakeholders should be held accountable for their respective role in the learning process.
