At this Tea & Talk Together we discussed Social & Emotional Needs of students as well as adults. Also, information on move to Plan A, Spring into Success and Kindergarten & PreK Screenings

alright so we have an exciting agenda this morning we have Miss Winfield he's going to be sharing some social emotional growth and help with us going to cover some strategies to help your students to be more self-aware and resources for both students and family adult to assist in this area ideas input that you guys might want to share with us our next chance Hawk will be April 29th at 9 a.m. and that will be kind of looking at some summer activities some summer events things that are going on this summer to share with you what can I do we have several events coming up in the next week and in the next month we're going to go over that information will have some key see what questions everybody has and see if we can share some information all right so I want to welcome Miss Winfield and say thank you for coming and sharing with us this morning thank you for having me gray you started are you sharing your screen that would be great huh I'm moving I'm thinking you guys are staying my screen all this time sorry about that how about now yes it's got a little yep there it is Bluth please jump in when I cuz I may forget especially if I can't see you so today we're going to talk about self-awareness in your child but you got did it to yourself first I just want to tell you what's up awareness is is understanding your thoughts and emotions and how those thoughts and emotions affect and influence your behavior and how you react to certain things I'm so how you can first help yourself and help child is you need to recognize the needs of your child so as a parent you know child better than anybody else but you can also take the input of your teachers are kind of how they're acting in school and just a self observation for them and they just recognize what they need if you know it that they're sterile the time or if you notice that they're frustrated all the time or something like that just recognize waited that you can do to help them basketball next is identifying your feelings and know how to recognize different emotions especially for younger students I recognize their emotions is is a little difficult because a lot of them only understand like happy and sad but there are string of emotions are they bad are they frustrated are they and are they angry are they angry or they just annoyed that like strengthening their vocabulary and teaching them about different feelings of course you do that in school level and social emotional learning but you know we want to make sure they know more than just happy mad and sad I'm next thing you want to do is demonstrate teach your child how to demonstrate honesty so just be honest with your feelings I can say Julie something bothering you or you know give me an online app for shipping and the rub because then that's a whole nother issue that will have to deal with just being honest about your feelings and feeling comfortable enough to let your child discuss with feelings and why they're feeling that way so teaching dim honesty is a good point of self-awareness and next is knowing your strengths and weaknesses so knowing like what makes you happy knowing what triggers you knowing what makes these type of it is come out is a good thing so you know as a parent you probably would have identified at first but then if you teach it to your child then they'll be more stuff independent as parents of course we raise my kids to be more independent to teach them their strengths and weaknesses and they can recognize them for themselves and in return it would help them identify their feelings and know how to be more self-aware and lastly once you become self aware and you learn about yourself and how to deal with your emotions then you wanted to do some self-care you want to know what it is that helps take care of you so that you can be your best self at school at home the community with your friends family everything so care of yourself teaching them just how to take care of yourself in this also goes not just for students but for parents as well Buena Vista they are my that's okay those are my quick five tips for self-awareness but I know that we'll have some links that we can are with you more in-depth there's tons of research on self-awareness I'm teaching it and knowing it for yourself but those are just a quick object that will help you. thank you Miss Winfield we really appreciate that that's that's really it's not just insightful information during this that we've been in but moving forward it's important information for our children and for ourselves and we just thank you for that and before we move on I just want to mention if you go to the TPS website under Family Resources there's several virtual rooms and one of them has a miss Fields little bitmoji welcoming you and that's where you can just click on the pictures and get all kinds of resources for different for things for yourself as well as thanks for your child Winfield all right so now I want to open the floor to see does anybody have any tips ideas any things that they've dealt questions about social emotional or things that they found to be helpful with their own child or with for themselves I know but not a parallelogram you boys looking on cell phones for always being there to help their children in the Attic did you play with them at home and also try to incorporate incorporate play with their education and they have a preschooler and I just thank her for being so involved in their children's education thank you Miss Gutierrez for sharing that we appreciate that alright so a couple things that are coming up next week on March 25th is our spring into success night and this is a virtual event there's something for every grade level and if your teacher has not share the flyer with the link please contact her or go to again our website parent resources the virtual refrigerator door has a link that will click you to this flyer that you can get the link for that this will be a great opportunity not only to connect with your child's teacher but with other family adult they have children in the same grade and to get some really great ideas and activities that you can do at home to help your child when I this message. right and then we also have a kindergarten screening come up and miss guiteras this might be of interest to you if you have not already registered or your child's kindergarten screening I want to do that and you can do that you can schedule the appointment by going to our website you can do that there you can call the school and scheduled at some of the things that you're going to need to bring when you do that are proof of residence your child's birth certificate their shot records your photo ID and make sure that you and your child wearing a mask and is because of Kobe Bryant net to a parent or the fee play adults is registering the student and the student Chris Stapleton and that that will take place on April 19th 21st and 22nd for English-speaking families and on April 20th for our Spanish-speaking families appointment as soon as possible you can also go two weeks before I believe it is the screening and Ashley fill out the enrollment papers and bring them already had them already done before you dos semanas and then the week following that we will have our screening for preschool students if you or you know someone who has a child that will be for Honor before August 31st please give them this information to contact the school to schedule their appointment for preschool screening and that requires the same documentation except for the preschool screening you will need two months of proof of income and then next week we look forward to having all of our students back on campus Monday will be remote day for all students and next week only the students will all be on campus Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Friday stroller policy in December but the following week will go back to Monday through Thursday on campus with Friday remote days students will still need to in the car rider line bring in their esta station for more have their temperature checked as they come in every day and staff and students and also due to the continued covid-19 Rick shins we still will not be able to have anybody that's not staff or students in the building so before we go into upcoming events that anybody have any questions comments need any further information on anything I just shared alright so some upcoming events report cards will be sent home the 18th and the second as I said before Monday the 22nd will be a remote learning day all students will be on Cloud on campus starting on the 23rd the 25th next Thursday night will be our spring success night and then the students will be on campus 26th that's a Friday and then moving forward it will go back to the Monday through Thursday spring break will be April 22nd April 22nd April 2nd through the that's on a Friday and then we have the kindergarten screening the preschool screening and progress reports message and I do want to mention that April 1st the day before spring break starts is a Thursday and it will be a remote learning day that is anybody have any questions any comments anything they want to share all right I didn't want to mention if you go to the TPS website under Family Resources we have several virtual rooms there is rooms that are great specific to give extra activities to do with your student home there is the refrigerator looks just like a refrigerator door it has all of our current flyer so if you're not sure that your student brought home a flyer or you misplace that you can go there and click right on the flyer and it will take you directly the flyer the information and I just want to say thank you to everyone you may trying to come and join us this morning because honestly separately we can do we can all do something really well but together we can do spectacular things and help all
