so I'm sure you just heard this meeting is being recorded and this week we are going to be talking about four questions you can ask your student everyday to help them Thrive during this time Miss windshield is going to lead us today so welcome is Winfield and thank you thanks for having me yes that's ever going to talk about four questions you can ask your student or your child it was a nice article that was sent to me about McCain birthday and kind of broke down and feel free to jump in because you all are parents and Educators and so the parents that come I have more comments and expertise and all that so the first question I'm the subject is your body question is what did you do today to move your body and the reason why that's an important question is because exercise and Misty probably can agree with me when I say this but exercise protects the it helps them focus better better sleep better moods exercise is good for your whole body that's really so I thought that was good actually I mean I kind of knew that but reading it and how it corresponding with education I thought that was yeah but she said she's coming today I told her that was really good and it makes perfect sense because it's mandatory and physical education is I'm going to special since I mean I was in school PE is important so that activeness is very important so for your kids that are at home your students are at home during this time you know make sure that they are outside playing if I can just vitamin D is Beyonce on my porch pretty much every day I take a walk up on your everyday so just even getting that son it's good for you but it's also good for your child so that was a question when you do today with your body and I'm sure interesting questions from your child they asked that I just want you to also mention to L your parents that Misty has been sending some great dojo links to some very fun activities for your kids to do to get them moving I even did some with my grandson's this weekend and got them outside so be sure and check out those Dojo Wing stats on Misty sending out yes but she said so the second question has to deal with your mind and the question you can ask is how did you exercise you are mine today so that's probably a question kind of similar to what did you learn today and I will say when my dad my dad asked me every day when I got home when I got home from school today. Nothing like like I don't know like why do you think I'm not learning but that's a good question how did you ask in real life experiences build your child's brain architecture that was cool cuz it was just real life experiences that the kids are lying during the school day helps build their brain and I know a lot of the time in the schools now there's a lot of real life situations Primary School were huge on classroom transformation even that real world and in learning so I thought that was a good question the next one is family what did you do to help about your family and your family can be your classroom family your family at home it could be anything so could you do with the family produces positive work at it and respect so just like learn to work with others your family your classroom it just makes an overall better person for social emotional self course at tricking me as a school counselor so that's a good question to ask what do you do to help out in the classroom cuz in the class in Vista Community so what did she do to help out today and the last question is what was the most fun thing you did today so of course improve your child's well-being including physical and your mental health if a child is having fun question answer benefits of asking these questions to your child or your student is that it gets kid one talking about their day so against them to be a good communicator just having conversations with your child communication skills excessive aesthetically recitation where the parents and the teachers tell when you're asking these questions I'm expecting that you're actually doing something at school today that you're actually taking something out of it and they just said Dairy Queen application for the teacher and the student daily reminder I care about you I care about what you're doing I care that you're learning I care that what you're doing in school is important and what you have to say is important to me and I think that's very important to all students and all kids that we actually care about what they're doing because school is the highlight of his day and just to know like hey what did you do say how was school today and let them know that they cared so I'mma go over the four questions again so what did you do today to move your body how did you exercise your mind today help your family out and where was the most fun thing you did today so it just remix that what did you learn at school today it makes it more interesting yeah so that's pretty much all I have I meant about oh yeah yeah so she's perfect so I just wanted interject to the one thing I read the article before I sent it to infield and the one thing the author said was that when they begin to incorporate these four questions into their family Dynamics in the evening over dinner or before bed or whenever they did it became this routine so that didn't even always have to start out asking the questions that the students their children would begin to just talk about the things they did and another thing they discovered was if they started to ask the questions and one of the children but I didn't do anything to help my family today they would run real quick and try and do something or if it was movement they would try and try and do those things so that they have an answer for the question so I think it's also asking questions a different way and getting your kids and your cells to think because these are things we all need to be doing everyday so that we're looking for the day where it's not just like Miss Winfield said how your day everything we want to ask questions that prompt more than a single word answer goodbye okay we want to have a discussion or have some kind of action on the part of the students so that was really good Miss Winfield you so much for sharing that does anybody have any comments any any of the statements that they thought were especially poignant for their family or for their lives or something they want and rejected could be done to expand these comments are questions I always ask what was your favorite part of the day like no matter it's the weekend or if this is long day of school you know doing school work and just having fun afterwards at the end of the day when they go to bed you know I try to always remember to ask what was your favorite part of the day but I think that's great especially at the end of the day till say something positive in their minds as they go to sleep and I think also going back to what you were saying about how you know what's your favorite by the day also asking them why I like what part of that they like so much so that maybe you can import what are be theirs in trying to stay like her there is a classic piece of daily likes on that part so that you know and then you can incorporate that the other other things and even take it a step further you can take what did you like today that we could move on and Implement tomorrow what's something that we could do again would grow on whatever it was that intrigued you or in you enjoy today sometimes when I remember I ask Michael what his favorite saying is I did today and it kind of remount reminds me to be we can't just be stuck in this house together like even when he was like I did it I was way more better at it when he was really little because we're just in the house together all the time and it's important to continually build even though we're all the time anyway and so when I say like what was your favorite thing I did today if you said no I like that you made me muffins or I like that you know you let me sit out in the car when you run into the grocery store give me little things like if he's having a bad day someone put it in the chat about I'm asking also, their feelings like what makes them sad what makes them happy what make them inside it and we think about emotional learning is incorporating feelings into those things so if they're talking about their body movement or exercising watch out that make you feel like it makes you feel better after or what activities that we do family today like how that make you feel and also you know returning the dialogue but sometimes we ask kids how they feel or what they were doing or what they've experienced so we don't care what we experience to so make it up what station is showing with your thoughts and feelings as well so it's if he comes up in conversation between you and your kids very good and I think even tying back into last week when this Winfield was talking about some of the movies that we can watch with her kids and talk about the movie Inside Out really a great opportunity especially with the younger ones that they may not be able to identify what they're feeling and how it makes their what emotions are experiencing I think watching that movie and talking about it at that would be really a good opportunity as well how about anything else anything else anybody wants to share any highlights for this week and he success has anything going really well any challenges that that you're facing anyting that we want to bring up before I start going over some dates and upcoming activities we usually don't do this till the end but I have chest to quickchek in how's everybody doing pretty good good good I know where it where kind of winding down we're getting ready for the third packet of work I see that the Barry is now doing curbside pickup so be sure and spread that word around a little opportunity for people to get out of the house and go pick up their books a reminder if you have Thomasville primary books did you get return when you return your next packet of work let me go to the dates that I have and please if anybody has a different date or different information than what I'm sharing please wear your hands so I can stop and correct it May 18th second that's next week will be the second round of homework assignments student work is due back on campus so that needs to be brought back at that same time you can pick up the third packet of work the 30 Fun Pack also if your child had anything they left in their Cubbies and their deaths in their classroom this week the teachers are packaging for app so that will be with their work when they pick it up if your child has any medication with left on campus administrators are compiling all that information getting that all together and they will contact you to work at my pre to come pick that up if you want to make sure you get all of your kiddos medication next Wednesday will be a chant it will be the afternoon one and it's going to be a review of the year so if you can please share the invite with your parents parents if you can share with other parents know and remind them you really want to get together and talk about the topics that we had this year that we might want to repeat next year some new ones we want to talk about also on our website to go to the Thomasville primary website go to Paris and then scroll there is a survey on the tea and talk were you check the topics that you liked the ones you want to talk about add your comments to so you can also share that and we'll kind of go over that survey during on next week and talk on the 22nd it's a school so that is Memorial Day please be sure to take a day to kind of get some rest and enjoy hopefully fingers crossed it'll be a nice day 27 what what 25th 25th did I say 27 May 25th May 25th is Memorial Day right thank you the 27th is the last day of student instruction that will be the last day that they have the work packets will end on that day Zoom classes that will be the last day of instruction it will also be our last GM stock and this white hazan graciously offered to give us some summer resources that she'll share during that meeting on the 29th all the students work needs to be completed and turned in you want to get set back in So teachers can start working on the end of the year grades and report cards then the 10th that's when the report cards will be getting ready to get mailed out and then if you have or if you know of any who has a child who will be 5 on August 30th 31st 31st 31st we want to make sure that they get signed up for the kindergarten enrollment screening and they can do that on our website as well and the screening date will be July 13th through the 16th are there any dates anything that I have missed that I did not mention I think you got to cover Miss Klein did you have any questions about any upcoming events Des anything that I might not have mentioned I had a question about the parrot ambassador's thing I don't packet are the binder today she wants a hard copy snow is there supposed to be a meeting tomorrow about that know the meeting is next Friday morning at the zoo and you should have gotten a calendar invite for that okay alright so we have our Spanish can talk right after this one and then after that one then I'll be going on campus to get the binders together I'll be at the side door with Miss Mina Lopez to get those without you alright thank you you're welcome all right anybody else any final words thoughts comments I sent you a message about Pre-K screening as the week after kindergarten screening fabulous did you email that to me I can email it to you or primary connections yeah and I need to give you the exact State though but I'm pretty sure it's the week after okay yes if you can get that to me I will put that in primary connections so it will go out in this week's primary connections and then we'll be sure and mention that we want to make sure highlight Miss Patterson just mention the preschool screening is the week after the kindergarten screening and right now you can pick up packets for the preschool if you're La you're going to be 4 on August 31st if you know if I have a child on Mondays from 8 to 2 yes you can stop by the primary and pick up the registration packet for that or you can get it at Smart Start hours also in case in case you didn't hear that a case I talked over her you can drop off has completed packets at the primary on Mondays from 8 to 2 or pick up a packet so please be sure and spread that word make sure that we get all of our kiddos signed up and ready for next school year which it's right around the corner so anything else all right well I just want to thank all you guys for making time this morning to come and to visit and talk and share with us especially shout out and thank you to miss Winfield for leading us this morning and I just hope you guys have a really great J & A Fabrics Chambers yes I'm sorry I don't ever do this I'm kind of like zooming and driving play slime stop I know y'all have got some graphics I think that you put up on your maybe your social media and on your website something that announces the kindergarten screening it's something that announces the Pre-K stuff if you can send them Graphics to Johnny Musgrave we can get them on all the district stuff and we can also get them on channel 13 which is the Thomasville City cable access so if you can send this to Johnny if you don't have the graphics and if I'm wrong and if I'm seeing things which is entirely possible that the information we can get Graphics to put up and we're trying to get stuff on channel 32 if that's readily available in everybody's house I called him doctor Gentry and I can send them into her thank you Miss White you're welcome question May 18th through the 22nd is that they can pick up the whole week or just that 18th as far as I know it's available that entire week on this passage or Miss Winfield you have different formation I believe it's available all that week to pick up yes so it is we have people volunteering throughout the week to help as well coming in so yeah they can pick it up throughout the week got the package then and just remember that so it'll be that week and then it goes until the 27th the pickup and drop-off right pickup is made for that for week for that second but their work goes up until the 27th second session the packets for the third for the final and we can when we come today or when I come today for like a drop off is office going to be open cuz I have a few gifts for a couples for the teachers that I need to drop off as well for teacher appreciation week I just didn't get the chance to get there yet last week yes he will be in the building today alright thank you you're welcome and also what you can do is we're going to my I don't know if there's one available but my vision is that we're going to be standing on the inside of the glass doors and the table will be working every table or something set up on the outside that we're going to take the we see you come up to try and continue social distancing but you get you the stuff that you need so if it's tag we can also pick it up and bring it in for you too if that's at times that works for you all right all right everybody
